What shade percentage / density should I choose (e.g. 30 %, 50 %, 70 %)?
The shade percentage determines how much sunlight is blocked — higher percentages block more light and provide more cooling. For example:
- 30 % shade is good for plants needing a lot of sunlight but some protection during hot days.
- 50 % is mid-range, balancing light and shade.
- 70 % or above is for more delicate plants, orchards, nurseries, or high UV zones.
Also consider your region’s climate, plant requirements, and how much light your crop can tolerate.
What’s the difference between knitted and woven shade fabrics, and which is better?
Knitted shade cloth is more flexible, resists unraveling when cut or punctured, and tends to be more durable under varied conditions.
Woven shade cloth is typically tighter and lighter, but if a small tear occurs it can propagate more easily.
In many agricultural / horticultural applications, knitted cloth is favored for its longevity and resilience.
Can this shade cloth help with other functions (e.g. heat control, pest protection, wind, UV)?
